Will The UUA's Commission on Appraisal aka COA Freely And Responsibly Appraise The UUA's Claimed Functions And Actual Activities In Responding to Clergy Misconduct aka Clergy Abuse?

Thanks to this Tweet from the UUA's COA aka Commission On Appraisal, which linked aka interconnected to this COA Facebook post saying -
In just a few days, the Commission on Appraisal will meet to review and make decisions about the suggestions for our next study topic. Have you offered your ideas? We are still listening. Please contact us at: www.uua.org/coa
on the ever so interconnected and interdependent web of the internet aka interwebs, The Emerson Avenger has ever so opportunistically taken the Big Fat U*U Opportunity to send the following "electronic communication" to the UUA's COA aka Commission On Appraisal by finger typing it into the blank form that is provided underneath the Big Fat U*U Question asking. . .

I believe that The Commission on Appraisal should thoroughly and comprehensively review the claimed functions and actual activities (or dearth thereof. . .) of the Unitarian Universalist Association's (mis)handling of UU clergy misconduct aka clergy abuse. In my judgment The U*U Movement will benefit immensely from an independent internal review of not only the UUA's clergy misconduct policies and procedures but also how they are actually enforced (or not...) by top level UUA leadership and lower echelon UUA staff who may bear some responsibility for responding to clergy misconduct complaints. Once this independent internal appraisal of the UUA's (mis)handling of clergy misconduct complaints is concluded, the COA should report its conclusions to a regular General Assembly so that delegates from most UU congregations can be made aware of just how badly the UUA has FAILed to live up to The Seven Principles of Unitarian Universalism in its obviously negligent, and just as obviously complicit... (non)responses to numerous clergy misconduct complaints.

For the record, the UUA is currently accusing me of the archaic crime of blasphemous libel for allegedly making "unfounded and vicious allegations to the effect that ministers of the Association engage in such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape." This egregious UUA (dys)function and immoral and unethical activity, which quite evidently seeks to cover-up and hide the fact that a certain number of "less than  perfect" UU "pastors" (to say nothing of UUA religious educators...) have in fact engaged in "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape" (to say nothing of less serious forms of clergy sexual misconduct...), has all the hallmarks of shameful and hubristic Lance Armstrong style legal bullying. It thus most certainly merits to be a significant part of an independent review of the UUA's past and ongoing functions and activities and to be reported to a regular General Assembly.

If the Commission on Appraisal is unready, unwilling, or possibly even unable to undertake this much needed review of the UUA's negligent and complicit responses to clergy misconduct complaints I would ask the COA to share its concerns about these matters with the UUA Board of Trustees during the October 2013 Board meeting.

Your's Truly,

Robin Edgar aka The Emerson Avenger
