Young Adult Unitarian Universalists Can Go Fuck Themselves. . .
But don't take *my* word for it U*Us.
Take the word of a female Young Adult Unitarian Universalist U*U who apparently blogs as CandleTree in the following verbatim Tumblr post linked to below -
I went with my Youth Adult Committee co-chair to present our proposal on youth voting rights to the board of trustees at church today.
That awkward moment when you provide a compelling argument backed not only by UU principles and our own bylaws, but by Maryland state law, and yet they still refuse to support your proposed amendment. That even more awkward moment when they are unable to say why they remain unconvinced and have no ideas for what you can do to gain their support.
You know what this is? Ageism. One of the arguments used against us tonight was that they want kids to have a chance to be kids, free of responsibility that being a voting member comes with.
Were you even listening? That’s why we’re saying they have to complete Coming of Age first. It’s the UU version of a bar mitzvah or confirmation. On the day of the COA ceremony the members of the church welcome us into the congregation as adult equals, and then the next Sunday we’re back to being children in their eyes.
Our bylaws state that you cannot prevent a person from voting based on age. But apparently that only applies to the old people. Young people can go fuck themselves. (Emphasis TEA's. . .)
And then they wonder why they don’t retain any of the people who grew up in the church. Why don’t they come back after college? I don’t know, could it be because you didn’t say they could have rights until they were already gone? Just food for thought, you ignorant, oppressive hypocrites.

I hereby challenge you to clearly identify just what I am saying or doing that constitutes hypocrisy on my part. I will certainly make a point of pointing out your own hypocrisy from here on in. . .
