Reverend Gary Kowalski Accuses Sarah Palin Of Being "Witch-Crazed". . .

Unitarian*Universalist minister Reverend Gary Kowalski currently serves as minister to the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington, Vermont. He is a graduate of Harvard College (B.A. 1977) and the Harvard Divinity School (M.Div. 1982) and it would appear that he is engaging in yet another Unitarian*Universalist witch-hunt against Senator John McCain's running mate Sarah Palin on his Revolutionary Spirits blog in a blog post titled -

Alaska's Witch-Crazed Governor

Here is his "Witch-Crazed" blog post verbatim -

Alaska's Witch-Crazed Governor

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has been following the story of Sarah Palin's connection with a witch-hunting pastor from Kenya. Pastor Muthee is known for identifying sorcerers within his community, accusing a local woman named "Mama Jane" of casting spells, telling fortunes and causing car accidents in the town. Mama Jane was threatened. Her pets were killed. Muthee demanded she either be saved or leave town--and she left!

In 2005 Thomas Muthee visited Sarah Palin's Assembly of God church, where he laid hands on the future Republican Vice Presidential "in the name of Jesus" and asked that she be protected from witchcraft on her road to political success.

What would the founders say about our witch-crazed Alaskan governor? Ben Franklin, born just a few years after the witch trials in Salem, wrote a biting satire of the hysteria that was still common in his time. Nineteen people were hanged in Salem, and two dogs executed (like in Kenya). One of the accused wizards, Giles Corey, was crushed to death under heavy stones for refusing to plead either guilty or not guilty to the offense of witchcraft. If the founders were careful to build into our constitutioin protections against cruel and unusual punishment, the right to confront your accusers in court, trial by jury, and other procedural safeguards, it was because "guilty until proven innocent," torture and trial by ordeal were not so far in the past.

You can listen to an interview on our founder's faith I did this morning with CBC host Anna Maria Tremonti at http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/.

Here is the comment that I just submitted to Reverend Gary Kowalski's "moderated" aka censored 'Revolutionary Spirits' blog -

So how do you get from Alaska governor Sarah Palin being prayed for by a visiting African evangelical pastor, one who may indeed be "witch-crazed" and even a "witch-hunter", to being "witch-crazed" herself?

Please present some solid evidence that supports your assertion that Alaska's Governor, and Republican Presidential candidate John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin is in fact "Witch-Crazed" or stand ready to be accused of engaging in "guilty until proven innocent" prejudice yourself Rev. Kowalski.

If Rev. Gary Kowalski fails or refuses to back up his assertion that Alaska governor Sarah Palin is "witch-crazed" I will be obliged accuse him of being something of a U*U "witch-hunter" himself. . .

The following follow-up comment was just submitted to Rev. Gary Kowalski's "moderated" 'Revolutionary Spirits' blog -

Any luck Gary?

Do you really think that it is "within the appropriate guidelines of ministerial leadership" for a U*U minister to label anyone as "witch-crazed" without possessing some substantial evidence that clearly indicates that the person being accused of being "witch crazed" is in fact obsessed or "crazed" about "witches" to back up such a brazen public statement? Even if a U*U minister actually possessed* some damning evidence that strongly supported such a brazen allegation, is the term "witch-crazed" really appropriate language to describe the person being accused?

Could not such harshly worded criticism of Sarah Plain be quite appropriately described as being "insulting and defamatory language" Rev. Kowalski?

Would not somewhat more "ministerial" aka "diplomatic" language be rather more "becoming" of a U*U minister?

Do you actually possess any evidence that the Republican candidate for Vice-President of the U.S.A. Sarah Palin is actually "witch-crazed", beyond what little "evidence" you have already presented in this blog post?

Do you understand that U*U email list "moderators" would characterize your harsh criticism of Gov. Sarah Palin, as it is presented here, as a "personal attack" based on "unsubstantiated rumors" if it had been directed at another U*U, especially if that U*U was an U*U minister or UUA administrator?

Do you understand that your ever so white "privilege" of posting to UUA sponsored email lists could be suspended for a week, or a month, or that you could even be permanently banned from posting to all UUA email lists for making far more substantiated allegations about a U*U minister on a UUA sponsored email list?

I look forward to becoming "smarter" and "wiser" and even "more powerful" like Adam Gerhardstein, the Acting Director of the UUA’s Washington Office for Advocacy aka UUWO, by evaluating how you respond to direct criticism and defend your actions in your responses to my direct questions, or lack thereof. . . Hopefully you will be somewhat more forthcoming and forthright in answering my reasonably diplomatic questions about your questionable conduct here than Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was in his highly evasive responses to the rather less than direct "questions and concerns" that UUA President Bill Sinkford shared with him recently during the Fellowship of Reconciliation meetings in New York.

*Pun not exactly intended but it works. . . Dare I ask what possessed you to label Gov. Sarah Palin as "witch-crazed" in such a public manner on your blog Rev. Kowalski?
